FORGET ME NOT

* myosotis sylvatica, who comes in
where the land is disturbed...
your ovaries are superior,
though in short style,
you are hairy, entire,
sessile, and alternate
and you contain nutlets.
Honestly, I don't know
whether all this is socially acceptable,
I only know you tug at my heart
with your tender, winsome ways
and welcome the newborn fawn
wobbling down the paths
of your sweet blue blossoms.

WABI-SABI

holy
the white flash
of a seagull
in the sun
and holy the
pale green
Aracauna eggs
holy, too
a blue
Japanese bowl
each a piety
unto itself...

SOFT AS

On a day when the earth is lusty with spring,
ducks are courting, flashing bills of neon blue.
An elegant merganser preens, butterflies
swoop and dazzle, and we sit beneath an old pine,
bark warm and vanilla-scented, and feast
on apples and cheese.  A small lizard watches,
eyes full of reptilian hungers.  In the rush
of this wild, runaway life, my heart is drenched
in light.  I am soft as a butterfly's breath.
