IT'S NOT ENOUGH

Took this quote from a beautiful blog
that's a favorite of mine, called
Keep the Coffee Coming,
http://katry.blogspot.com

but as Kat, the author of the blog, says
about it: "it's too good to be wasted on
a single site."

"It's not enough to know the world is
absurd and restrict yourself merely to
pointing out that fact...
It is wrong to expect a reward for your
struggles. The reward is the act of
struggle itself, not what you win. Even
though you can't expect to defeat the
absurdity of the world, you must make
the attempt. That's morality, that's religion,
that's art, that's life."

- Phil Ochs
(Ochs was a talented, if little known,
musician from the '60's.)

Phil Ochs was a wonderful artist, and a fascinating thinker, if the quote is anything to go by. Like too many artists back then he was swallowed up by the long shadow of Bob Dylan. But he deserves to be brought back into the light.

Ever hear the song "I Dreamed I Saw Phil Ochs Last Night" by Billy Bragg, the British singer-songwriter?

Bruce, I never even heard of Phil Ochs until you, thanks to mentioning that great blog--Keep the Coffee Coming. But he does have a nice voice and the quote is excellent. Thanks!
